Behavioral issues can be distressing and frustrating to owners and pets alike. Thankfully, we are able to help! Our team includes two trainers with master?s degrees in animal behavior, as well as a veterinarian (Dr. Laura Stolt) who takes a particular interest in treating behavioral issues. Our trainers are able to make home visits to address many common behavioral complaints. For more complex problems, Dr. Stolt offers behavioral consults which consist of a detailed examination of the pet as well as a thorough discussion of the issues with owners. We will perform any testing needed to rule out underlying medical causes for these problems and then formulate a detailed plan for modifying the behavior. Sometimes, medication may be employed to help with resolution.
Our doctors and trainers work as a team, and our trainers can assist the owners in the implementation of the plan. Among the behavioral challenges we can treat are:
- inappropriate urination/defecation
- scratching furniture
- thunderstorm phobia
- noise phobia
- separation anxiety
- cognitive issues/confusion
Behavioral health is a huge component of the overall well-being of our pets and our relationships with them. Let us help you ensure the best-possible behavior from your beloved pet.
